Connect the Microsoft Store

StoreFast connects to Partner Center through a Microsoft Entra application. You create it once, and it covers every app in your developer account.

If you signed up with a personal account

Partner Center only creates Entra applications for accounts linked to a Microsoft Entra tenant. A personal Microsoft account (Outlook, Hotmail, Gmail) doesn't have one, so steps 1 and 2 create one for free.

You'll end up with two sign-ins: your personal account, which owns the developer account, and a tenant admin like you@yourname.onmicrosoft.com. The Entra applications tab only appears for the tenant admin, after step 3.

If your company uses Microsoft 365, you already have a tenant. Skip to step 3.

Set up the connection

  1. 1

    Create a tenant

Sign in to Partner Center as the owner of your developer account. Go to Settings›Account settings›Tenants and create a new Microsoft Entra ID. Save the admin sign-in it gives you.

  2. 2

Link the tenant to your developer account

Still as the owner, go to Account settings›Tenants and choose Associate Microsoft Entra ID with your Partner Center account. Sign in as the tenant admin when asked, then confirm.

  3. 3

Make the tenant admin a Manager

Go to Account settings›User management›Users. Add the tenant admin and select Manager(Windows) under Roles applicable to developer programs.

If you only see Roles applicable to partner programs, the tenant isn't linked yet. Go back to step 2.

  4. 4

Sign in as the tenant admin

Sign out, then sign in with the onmicrosoft.com account. User management now has a Microsoft Entra applications tab.

  5. 5

    Create the Entra application

On the Microsoft Entra applications tab, choose Add Microsoft Entra application and create a new one named StoreFast. Give it the Manager(Windows) role.

For Reply URL and App ID URI, enter any unique addresses, like https://storefast.app/microsoft and https://storefast.app/partner-center. Nobody signs in to this application, so they're never used.

StoreFast then appears twice with the same ID, as Microsoft Entra Apps and as Service Principal. That's normal. Use the Microsoft Entra Apps one.

  6. 6

    Create a key

Click the StoreFast row of type Microsoft Entra Apps and choose Add new key. Copy the key right away. Microsoft shows it only once.

Choose Cancel at the bottom of the page to go back to the app details. Copy the Tenant ID and Client ID from there.

  7. 7

    Connect in StoreFast

On your dashboard, paste the Tenant ID, Client ID and Key into Connect Partner Center. Add the key's expiry date, and StoreFast reminds you before it stops working. Your apps appear in a few seconds.

Why the Manager role

Microsoft requires Manager for both the submission API, which publishes updates, and the analytics API, which reads downloads, ratings and reviews. Manager can't see or change your tax and payout settings.

Disconnect StoreFast

Delete the key or the whole application under User management›Microsoft Entra applications. Access stops right away.

StoreFast encrypts your key before storing it. Nobody can view it again, including you.

If something goes wrong

  • Selected user account does not exist in tenant. You signed in with your personal account where Partner Center wanted the tenant admin. Sign out and use the onmicrosoft.com account.
  • Microsoft accepted the key but blocked access. The application doesn't have the Manager role. Open it in Partner Center and check the role.
  • Partner Center is limiting requests. Microsoft throttles its reports. Your account is connected, and the rest of your data fills in on the next sync.
