10.1.1.1 Inaccurate Representation: The product name contains the title of another piece of software or service

This comes in the certification report. The full text reads "The product name does not accurately represent the product. The product name contains the title of another piece of software or service. Please edit the Product Name field in the Store Listings section."

What it means

Policy 10.1.1 says your product name must be unique, must not contain marketing text or extra keywords, and must not use another product's name unless you publish that product too.

The report tells you to edit Product name, but that field is a drop-down of names you've reserved. You can't type a new name into it, which is why it looks read-only.

How to fix it

  1. Reserve a new name. In Partner Center, open the app, go to Product management and use Manage app name reservations. Microsoft asks for an original name you have the rights to, with no trademarks, version numbers, emoji or special characters.
  2. Build packages that use the new name and upload them in a new submission.
  3. On the Store listing page for each language, pick the new name in Product name.
  4. If you own the name or have permission to use it, contact Microsoft through Partner Center support instead of renaming.

Does StoreFast check this?

Partly. StoreFast's listing page warns when the product name isn't one of your reserved names, and when a search term uses another product's name. It can't tell whether your name contains someone else's trademark.

Sending the fixed update with StoreFast

StoreFast can send your next update to Partner Center from a dashboard, CI or a coding agent.
