The PublisherDisplayName element in the app manifest doesn't match your publisher display name
Partner Center shows this as a package acceptance validation error when you upload. The full message reads "The PublisherDisplayName element in the app manifest of <package> is <name>, which doesn't match your publisher display name: <name>."
What it means
Your manifest has three values that tie the package to your developer account:
Identity Name, Identity Publisher and PublisherDisplayName. Partner Center compares PublisherDisplayName with the publisher display name on your account and they differ. The two names in the message can look identical. Microsoft says the values are case-sensitive and that spaces and punctuation must match too, so a trailing space or a different apostrophe is enough. A Microsoft moderator also points to a package built while signed in to a different account, or not associated with this app.
How to fix it
- In Partner Center, open the app, expand Product management and select Product identity. Copy the value shown for
.Package/Properties/PublisherDisplayName - Paste it into
in your manifest, or into your packaging tool's publisher display name setting. Don't retype it. While you're there, check Name and Publisher against the same page.<PublisherDisplayName> - If you build in Visual Studio, sign in with the Microsoft account linked to your developer account and associate the project with the app in the Store. Visual Studio then fills in these values for you.
- Rebuild the package, remove the rejected one and upload the new one.
