Certification errors

Platform appropriate files test failed

The Windows App Certification Kit reports this under the package sanity tests. It checks each binary's PE header against the ProcessorArchitecture in your manifest.

What it means

Your package has binaries built for a different processor than the one its manifest declares. Microsoft says mixed binaries can make the app crash on some machines and make the package bigger than it needs to be.

How to fix it

  1. Check
    ProcessorArchitecture
    on the
    Identity
element of your manifest, then the rules for that architecture:
    DeclaredThe package may contain
neutralNo x86, x64 or Arm binaries.
    x86Only x86 binaries.
x64x64 binaries, plus x86 files if needed. The main app must be x64. No Arm binaries.
    armOnly Arm binaries.
  2. Remove binaries for other architectures, or build a separate package for each architecture and set its ProcessorArchitecture to match.
  3. Rebuild and run the kit again.
